Home automation and control using the ZigBee protocol

The ZigBee protocol is a popular choice for the management of intelligent devices, due to its low power consumption and interoperability. In this project, a system for managing smart devices using this protocol was developed. The main objective of the project is to integrate as many smart devices from different manufacturers as possible. The application allows the user to control various functionalities of devices installed in their homes, such as lighting and temperature. Additionally, the application provides information about the status of each device, allowing the user to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Overall, this project demonstrated the feasibility of using ZigBee for the management of intelligent devices and provided a valuable tool for home control.

Automatic Voice pathology detection using Deep Learning Techniques

Pathologies that affect the vocal tract are known to alter the quality of the patients' speech in distinguishable or more subtle ways. This paper presents a non-invasive multi-class automatic vocal pathology detector that outperforms the mean accuracy of medical professionals by analyzing the less distinguishable features of pathological voices. The proposed system uses a deep learning algorithm capable to analyze multiple pathologies based on speech signals that consist in simple vowel utterances recorded in either audio or electroglottographic (EGG) format. The classifier obtained 86% and 75% accuracies for the audio and EGG separately, while their simultaneous analysis yielded 95% accuracy.

Monitoring of serum and urinary profiles of people with diabetes

The work was aimed at monitoring the serum and urinary profiles of people with type 2 diabetes. The results of serum analyzes showed higher values than the maximum permissible values for the parameters HbA1C, cholesterol and total proteins. In the case of urine tests, patients experienced presence of white blood cells (WBC), cetones, hematuria, proteinuria, elevated values for creatinine, urea, and uric acid, considered toxic products of metabolism. Urinary sediment confirmed hyperoxaluria, the presence of red blood cells (RBC), hipuric acid, fecal matter, hyaline cylinders, fibrous cylinders, granular cylinders, indicating renal dysfunction.

This study presents the possible ways of expressing politeness in the Maramureș idiom, which geographically coincides with the Maramureș county itself. In this area, four different folklore subzones can be distinguished, which also present their own particularities of expression. Thus there are major differences between the forms used in the speech from the area of Historical Maramureș and in the speech from the area of Chioar and Codru. The polite formulas used in addressing family members in village life will also be observed.

All these differences and particularities will be analyzed and exemplified in the content of this specialized study.

Deep learning for prediction of future endoscopic disease activity in Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lower gastrointestinal tract which is composed of the colon and the rectum. The disease exhibits itself with alternating periods of acute phases and remission during which the patient can suffer various clinical manifestations. The best way at this time to asses the disease is through colonoscopies where the clinician looks for clinical symptoms such as redness, ulcerations, bleeding, stool frequency all of these being part of a scoring
system called the MAYO scoring system. The main limitation of this scoring system is the high subjectivity of the clinician that takes part in the assessment of the disease. This calls for an automated method of both diagnosing and scoring the disease using machine learning algorithms that are capable of detecting even the slightest differences in the evolution of the disease such that the treatment of said patient can be adjusted accordingly while predicting the clinical outcome: remission or non-remission.

In this paper I will be looking at the evolution of unemployment in Romania and the European Union (EU) as well as the unemployment rate in young people in Romania.

The financial crash driven by the Covid pandemic and the (Ukrainian) war has led to an increase in unemployment in some EU countries, having a negative impact on both society and individuals.

I will analyze some EU programmes and initiatives designed to reduce unemployment and generate more quality jobs.

At the end, I will be drawing conclusions and propose a few suggestions on how to tackle the unemployment crisis.

Over the last decades there has been an immense contribution to the topic of sustainability. More and more companies are changing the way they operate so they can be more sustainable. This paper focuses on sustainability within the supply chain management of the company Samsung. The first part will discuss the theoretical components of supply chain management and will lay the foundation for the second part, which is composed of a case study on the supply chain management within Samsung. The second part will also show the various aspects of sustainability within the company’s supply chain management and will give an overview of the supply chain management process. The third part of this paper contains a survey which was conducted in order to obtain information about the general consumer and their knowledge about sustainability within the supply chain of Samsung. The results of the survey, which will be discussed in the last part lend ideas for future research on such topics.
